Homework
Homework is set on Monday and handed in the following Monday. The children will have two homework books. This means that books can be handed in while the next set of homework can be completed in the other book. The focus each week will alternate between mathematics and English.
Weekly homework tasks
These tasks need to be completed every week.
1) Reading - 100 minutes to be read each week. Please ensure you write down how many minutes you read in your reading journal and write the total before you hand your reading journal in. You must also read three times to an adult and they must comment and sign your journal each time.
2) Times Tables - There will be times tables activities each week. If you are a times table champion you will be exempt from this homework.
3) Mathletics - Three mathletics activities will be set each week. These must all be completed with a pass rate of 85%.
4) Spellings - Spellings need to be learnt each week and the activity sheet needs completing each week. A blank one can be found here.
There may be other tasks to complete which will relate to other class learning.
General Homework Guidance
You are responsible for making sure your homework is handed in on time and is complete. I will try and make homework relevant to your learning in class, hard enough so that you feel like you have learnt something but not too hard so that you get demotivated. Here are some helpful homework hints.
1) Homework is your responsibility but I will help you if you ask for it before your work is due in. This will always be true.
2) Do your homework and hand it in on time. Homework club awaits if you do not. This will always be true.
3) If it requires a parent's signature or contribution, make sure you get your parents to sign it. It is your responsibility. This will always be true.
4) If you've got a problem with your homework, come and talk to me about it.
