Governor Pen Portrait
Philip Baylis - Foundation (Chair)

I have now been the Chair of the Governors of the school for almost 1 year and have been a governor involved with the school for over 4 years. I have been thoroughly enjoying the journey that the school is on.

My background has been in construction industry for all of my career. I have worked and lived in many countries in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East as well as the UK. I have also spent over 15 years lecturing and running MBA modules for business schools in the UK and also the Far East, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am now retired and keen to give back into society and schools some of my experiences.
Reverend Angie Smith - Foundation (Vicar)

I've been a governor since September 2018 and have really enjoyed getting to know the lovely community at DPS since then. I was born in Hampshire but spent some of my childhood in East Africa eventually coming back to school in Winchester. I trained as an Architect and practiced in Devon and for HCC for 16 years before God asked me to serve him as a vicar! I was ordained in 2014 and came to be vicar in Hartley Wintney, Winchfield and Dogmersfield in 2017. I'm married to Vince, have 2 grown up children and a cheeky little dog called Finn. I love country walks, growing things in my garden, creating things with my hands and by being surprised by God!

Sue Cooper - Foundation Governor

I have lived in Hartley Wintney for nearly 36 years, and we have raised our two sons in the village. I have been involved in many village organisations during this time and have loved living in such a wonderful community. I am a member of St John’s Church in Hartley Wintney and have been involved with the Bumps & Babies group for 10 years, leading it for the last 3 years.

My career was as an Early Years and Key Stage 1 teacher which I loved, and my job grew as my children grew, so I was very blessed. I am passionate about children and families and have really enjoyed my time as a governor at DPS. I started as a governor in 2018 and have just committed to another 4 years. I look forward to seeing this wonderful school progress under Mrs. Nicholass' leadership.
Lucy Sheikh - Foundation Governor

I have lived in Dogmersfield since 2019. I used to be a Primary School Teacher and I have recently trained as a Specialist Teacher. I have two teenage children and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. You may often see me walking through the village with Nutmeg. I look forward to supporting DPS in any way I can to help all the children achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Janne Fuglestad - Parent Governor

I was appointed in September 2023 as a parent of two girls attending the school.

My background is in Higher Education, having worked in marketing and student recruitment, and more recently as an Exams Officer, currently at Farnborough Hill.

I am committed to ensuring that every child has an equal chance to make the most of the opportunities offered to them, to help them develop a lifelong passion for learning.

I am proud to be a part of the school’s highly supportive governors team and look forward to working closely with them and wider school community.

Jo Vance - Parent Governor

As a mum of one boy who attends Dogmersfield Primary School, I am passionate about creating opportunity for children in the area to receive excellent educational, pastoral and wrap around care. I hope to make sure school life gives them great memories, long lasting friendships and the best chance of success as an adult, including a healthy mind-set. I am a qualified Accountant currently working as a Finance manager in the corporate travel market. My work entails financial planning and analysis for the Technology function and Business partnering with the many project leaders and executives. I am keen to extend the skills I have gained from my working life into being a great parent governor.

Alison Jones - LA Governor

I am the Local Authority Governor sitting on the board. I was appointment in July 2022. I am looking forward to working with the other governors in supporting the school in achieving high standards of education and helping the children reach their full potential.
My background is in the NHS where I worked as a physiotherapist.

Lauren Weeks - Foundation Governor

Having moved to the area last year, I have been keen to become involved in the local community and am excited to be appointed as a Governor to Dogmersfield Primary School.

Prior to moving to Hartley Wintney, I was an Assistant Headteacher at a Primary School in London and have been teaching for 8 years, primarily in Key Stage Two.

I now have two young children and a very energetic dog.

I am passionate about education and ensuring that we are providing children with the best opportunities and experiences to ensure a life long love of learning.

I am looking forward to working with the wonderful team at Dogmersfield Primary School.

John Geering - Foundation Governor

I started my education at St James CofE Primary School, Emsworth (that is the last village in Hampshire going East on the seashore). Later I joined a Choir Boarding School which travelled to different churches and occasions singing anything from Grace to a concert of choir music.  My career started at the shipbuilders, Vosper Thornycroft, as a trainee accountant. I moved to the Midlands and managed an accounting function for Courtaulds Coventry.
Later, also for Courtaulds I managed the Sports & Social Club and its many facets. From there I was self employed and then got into the Printing Industry as a Cost Accountant, going on to be Financial Controller of the Finance Department. The printing element still held me at Kalamazoo until returning to Hampshire, again as a finance manager. I am now retired and spend a lot of time as a Fleet Lion. I am a member of All Saints Dogmersfield Church and take part in the village and church activities when my wife, Sylvia, and I can. We know we are always welcome and look forward with helping the school reaching its full potential in the future. I did complete some five years as a Hampshire Governor and have my “frog badge.
