Umbrella
Umbrella is a short film that the children of Attenborough class watched as part of our English learning. It tells the story of a refugee boy who is left at an orphanage by his father, who owned a yellow umbrella. One day, a yellow umbrella appears from the far side of a car and hope fills the boy’s heart, only to be dashed when it turns out that the owner is a rather spoilt young lady who is being forced to give some of her old toys to the orphanage.
Their lives soon become intertwined and well, we don’t want to spoil the ending so you can watch it here:

After watching the film, we wrote from different perspectives. You can read some of our work below. We also found out more information about refugees, wrote prayers for them which are installed in Winchester Cathedral and wrote some of those facts and prayers on a yellow umbrella. You can see those images here.
