Residential Trip

Dear all,

Day four saw a surprise visit from Mrs. Nicholass which was lovely. She saw some lovely skiing and aerotrek skills (think go ape but in an aircraft hanger).

We've also had the chance to explore the beach a bit more, finish off all the activities that we hadn't done (kayaking, team swing and archery) and we ended the day by building contraptions and new class mates in the epic engineering session (photos to follow due to technical difficulties).

The staff here have taken the time to come and find me to tell me how pleased they have been with our children this week which was lovely. They have represented the school with respect towards the instructors and staff here which has been great to see.

We have learnt how important sleep is, we have learnt a few things about others that we didn't know before and we have learnt that wet suits and ski boots are harder to take off than to put on.

We have been reminded what a privilege it is to teach your children but we look forward to handing them back to you tomorrow (or possibly today by the time you read this message).

See you soon!

We have all been out studying the river Darkwater today, measuring depth, width, flow and the size and smoothness of pebbles, looking for evidence of erosion and predicting how we think a river changes along its course. We had lunch at Lepe Country Park, which is worth a visit if you are ever this way.

This evening, we explored the beach and then had some fun on the ringos. Here are some photos from the day.

Tomorrow is a mixed day of skiing, aero-trek, kayaking, team swing and engineering.

Calshot Day 3

Dear all,

Today we have all been skiing and some of us have kayaked. Here is a picture of us all after lunch today, which was sausages, chips and spaghetti hoops (very popular). We are on the beach near our accommodation and had just been skimming stones and finding out about longshore drift!

Last night’s bridges were a great success with three of the bridges breaking the season’s record for strength and two of them, well just breaking… but the engineering prowess was there to be seen in all groups.

Tonight we are taking on the role of detectives in using a number of scientific methods to solve the great Calshot crime linked to the history of aviation here.

See you all on Friday,

Mr Frame and the team

We have arrived safely at Calshot to a high tide and a massive cargo ship leaving Southampton. We had pizza for lunch and have climbed this afternoon and completed initiatives.

This evening we are bridge building after tea, which hopefully won’t result in any children making it to Portsmouth or Cowes.
